Position Title: Intern - Anti-Money Laundering

Reports to: Senior Executive - Anti-Money Laundering
Job Purpose
To support the Authority's objectives through intelligence gathering, information sharing, and investigative activities, while ensuring that the functions of the AML Department are effectively carried out and that the highest professional standards are always maintained.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist with preliminary due diligence, background research and information gathering in support of examinations;
- Conducting reviews of backdated investigation outcomes and organising findings in a structured log for monitoring and reporting purposes;
- To offer investigative support to other areas of the MGA, as instructed by senior management;
- To assist in conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) research, including monitoring publicly available information that may be relevant to the Authority's regulatory and supervisory functions;
- To support research initiatives relating to anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), including the identification of emerging risks, typologies, regulatory developments and international best practices;
- To assist with preparations relating to international assessments and evaluations, including research, document reviews, information gathering and administrative support activities connected to Moneyval and other relevant assessments;
- To carry out any other investigative or onsite duties/tasks as may be instructed from time to time by the respective superiors.
Technical/Professional Expertise
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (MQF level 6 or equivalent), ideally in fields related to criminology, psychology, commerce, sociology and/or law;
- Interested in the gaming industry, AML/CFT, investigations and intelligence;
- Be capable of working within a team, manage multiple engagements, and work to demanding deadlines;
- Ability to identify and report on sensitive issues, and willing to take ownership;
- Be smart, highly motivated, well-presented, and with good communication skills; and
- Organised, with very good report writing and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
