Overview

Title: Gaming Inspector

Directorate: Operations 

Reporting to: Head of Inspectorate

Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring that different entities conform with the law and if need be, provide enforcement. The main areas which are covered by the Inspectorate are Casinos, Controlled Gaming Premises, Commercial Communication Games, Non-Profit Bingos, Non-Profit Lotteries , and the National Lottery

Key Accountabilities/Key Activities

  • Ensures that Licensees are at all times compliant with the laws and regulations as assigned by law.
  • Manages daily compliance checks on assigned land-based licensees by conducting regular visits to the premises.
  • Prepare reports on findings from inspections and investigations, documenting any discrepancies or shortcomings. 
  • Stay updated on legislation, gaming regulations, and industry trends to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Conduct inspections in collaboration with the Police force with respect to complaints, queries, information gathering and various other matters which surface from time to time.
  • Attends Court sittings and gives evidence on behalf of the Authority if and when required;
  • Takes active part in licensee inspections whenever required.
  • Attends training courses as requested by the Authority.
  • Other tasks as instructed by the Head of Inspectorate and/or Chief Office Operations 

Technical/Professional Expertise

  • Proficient in business English.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the gaming industry, specifically in live table games and electronic gaming devices.
  • A strong educational background or experience in a junior leadership role in gaming settings is essential to support the skills and knowledge required for the role.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Educated up to ‘o’ level standard. Lower qualifications will be considered if accompanied by relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing lotteries and gaming in Malta is considered an asset
