Position Title: Intern - Officer Investigations & Intelligence

Job Purpose
To ensure that former MGA authorised gaming operators are no longer offering gaming services to/from or through a Maltese legal entity. At the same time, it is to be ensured that the goals and functions of the Authority and the Investigations and Intelligence Department are met, and that professional standards are maintained at all times.
Main duties and Responsibilities
• To assist in the monitoring of companies that either have had their licence surrendered or cancelled, or Recognition Notice holders that have had their certificate cancelled, expired or terminated, with the aim of ensuring termination of operations;
• To assist in the monitoring of companies that have applied for a licence, or a Recognition Notice certificate, and whose application has either been withdrawn by the applicant, or rejected by the MGA;
• To assist in the monitoring of websites that are no longer authorised by the MGA;
• To offer investigative support to other areas of the MGA, as instructed by senior management;
• To keep abreast with developments, policies and procedures issued by EU institutions, the Government of Malta, its authorities and entities, as well as organisations and constituted bodies;
• To ensure that the goals and functions of the Authority and the Team are met, and that professional standards are maintained at all times;
• To assist the Intelligence Officer with any work in relation to Ongoing Monitoring on MGA- Authorised operators and individuals; and
• To carry out any other duties/tasks as may be instructed from time to time by the respective superiors.
Technical/Professional Expertise
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (MQF level 6 or equivalent), ideally in fields related to criminology, psychology, sociology and/or law;
• Interested in the gaming industry and social science;
• Interest in the gaming industry, investigations and intelligence shall be considered an asset;
• Be capable of working within a team, manage multiple engagements, and work to demanding deadlines;
• Ability to identify and report on sensitive issues, and willing to take ownership;
• Be smart, highly motivated, well-presented, and with good communication skills; and
• Organised and having very good report writing skills.
