Position Title: Senior Executive - Authorisations
Department: Authorisations - Regulatory Directorate
Reports to: Assistant Manager – Authorisations
Job Purpose
To be responsible for the management and processing of applications received by the Malta Gaming Authority, resulting in the eventual issuing of authorisations. The Senior Executive - Authorisations will also act as a main point of contact from an authorisations perspective for his/her portfolio of licensees and provide unmatched operator experience to the portfolio of assigned licence holders.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Managing a portfolio of licensees by building an effective rapport with their representatives, ensuring excellent communication;
• Be responsible for the management of the respective team;
• Effectively leading the respective team, and ensuring unmatched operator experience is constantly on top of the agenda;
• Ensuring a quantitative and qualitative review of applications received by the
• Authority, making sure that applicants have submitted the required documentation, that applications are complete and correct, and that respective fees have been paid;
• Being the main point of contact, both internally and externally, in relation to the assigned portfolio of licensees;
• Coordinating the draft and issuing of licences, certificates and renewals granted by the Authority;
• Issuing of the various approvals which fall under the Authority’s remit;
• Assisting in the training of staff in different facets and roles;
• Replying to general queries and to prospective applicants;
• Communicating with internal/external stakeholders on regulatory-related matters;
• Providing weekly activity updates to the Regulatory senior management team, Fit and Proper Committee, Supervisory Committee, Compliance and Enforcement Committee and/or EXCO when needed;
• Representing the Authority in various conferences as may be required;
• Carrying out any other duties/tasks as directed by Regulatory Senior Management team.
Technical/Professional Expertise:
• A minimum educational level of MQF level 6
• Experience in due diligence, AML, or compliance with a strong focus on Source of Wealth and Source of Funds reviews;
• Proven experience in managing a team will be considered an asset;
• In possession of good leadership skills, ability to give directions, mentor and motivate the respective team;
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment;
• Ability to organise and present findings and recommendations in a structured and detailed manner (both verbal and written);
• Think and act strategically;
• Take ownership and actions in line with agreed KPIs.
