Position Title: Compliance – Officer
Department: Compliance – Regulatory Directorate
Reports to: Senior Executive – Compliance
Job Purpose
As an Officer within the Compliance Department, the employee will be conducting compliance reviews of licensees, ensuring information on all licenses are up-to-date and that licensees are respecting the laws and regulations of the Authority and taking action where needed.
Key Accountabilities/Key Activities
Ensuring that licensees are at all times compliant with the laws and regulations in accordance with the law;
Reviewing due diligence documents and following up with the Criminal Probity Team for relevant vetting, in respect of licensees;
Maintaining information on all licensees on the Authority’s systems and databases;
Offering investigative support to other areas of the Authority as instructed by management.[KV1]
Prepare and present regular compliance reports as instructed by management;
Following up with licensees on events that change the information held on them by the Authority;
Participating in meetings and calls with prospective applicants and licensees and handling of general queries received via e-mail or telephone;
Keeping licensees and other key stakeholders abreast of changes in compliance requirements;
Keeping up to date with developments, policies and procedures issued by other institutions in relation to the industry;
Attending training, conferences and fora as required by the Malta Gaming Authority;
Contributing to the development and maintaining processes and policies to achieve the objectives of the Department and in line with the changing requirements of the industry;
Carrying out tasks as instructed by the Senior Executive and Compliance Manager.
Technical/Professional Expertise
Minimum educational level of MQF Level 6
Qualifications related to business, management, legal or finance will be considered an asset
Minimum One (1) year experience in a Compliance related role.
Experience in the gaming industry shall be considered an asset.
Experience in legal affairs, commerce and/or accountancy and/or finance shall be considered an asset.
Capable of working within a team, manage multiple engagements and work to demanding deadlines
Ability to identify high risk areas and organise and present findings and recommendations in a concise manner (both verbal and written);
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment;
Think analytically and act strategically;
Smart, highly motivated, well presented and with good communication skills.
Takes ownership and is action oriented.
